Birds Sited at Greencastle
Endemic Birds of Jamaica
Bird Report 2006

 Birding at Green Castle Estate

Because of our diverse eco-systems, Green Castle is an excellent location to explore both the endemic and resident birds of Jamaica. Through a partnership with Humboldt State University, two Graduate students and a number of volunteers documented sightings of 19 out of the 28 endemic Jamaican birds. In addition to endemic and resident birds, the many ecosystems draw such a great mix of North American migratory birds that 100 species have been recorded on the Estate. Even the Estate House veranda provides fabulous birding opportunities in absolute comfort.

Birding can be done at Green Castle through stays at the Estate House or by purchasing a daily access ticket. Birders can use the miles of farm roads, 2 ponds, marsh area and freshwater dam to try their luck at sightings . A birding or nature guide can be arranged for you at an extra charge.
